Farewell Lydia Tyanase – We'll Miss You

Today is the last day for someone very special in our team. Lydia Tyanase is retiring after being with us for 19 years. Lydia started her journey with us back in September 2001 at Morris Care Centre in Telford as a Registered Nurse from Port Elizabeth in South Africa.

After her first few months, Lydia quickly became Team Leader on Wellington Court and alongside colleague Hildah Mudau, managed the Overseas Nurses Programme. In 2005 she became Deputy Nurse Manager and then moved to Oldbury Grange in 2008 to manage the Home for its first two operating years.

Lydia then returned to Morris Care Centre in 2010 and was promoted to Home Manager in 2014. More recently in the past few years, Lydia took up the role of Clinical Services Manager overseeing our clinical interventions across the group, ensuring that we are delivering the best possible care to our residents.

Her development has been phenomenal and not only has she helped form an outstanding care team at the Care Centre but she has set a very high standard across our Nursing Homes. She assisted with the guidance and training of some of our most proficient nurses. Lydia is a shining example of everything we stand for at Morris Care.

Lydia commented: “I still remember my first day like it was yesterday, I remember seeing all of the fields and being introduced to my housemates. I believe your success is due to the people around you and I would like to thank every single person who has supported me, particularly those who were always at the end of the phone and people I could rely on – you know who you are.

“Through the highs and the lows, through the challenging times and through many successes, it has been an honour to share this journey with you. I will miss all of the staff, our residents and their families but Morris Care and everyone involved will live on in my heart, no matter where I am.”

From everyone at Morris Care, we wish you all the best Lydia and hope you enjoy retirement in South Africa with your lovely family. You will be dearly missed by so many but you have definitely left your mark!
